After five and a half years of transformative leadership, Vermont Adult Learning (VAL)’s Executive Director, Hal Cohen, will be retiring at the end of December. We’re happy to share that Hal will be embarking on his next chapter as a doting grandfather! Hal has dedicated more than four decades of his career to nonprofit leadership and anti-poverty work, with the last 27 devoted to making a positive impact in Vermont.
“Working at Vermont Adult Learning has been one of the highlights of my career,” Hal shared when reflecting on his leadership history. “I’ve always believed that education is a ticket out of poverty and I have been so moved by the stories and accomplishments of our adult students. VAL’s important work will continue in the hands of a very talented and dedicated staff that I will miss!” Read more at the Times Argus and Rutland Herald.
