Celebrating Juneteenth

VAL is closed today in celebration of Juneteenth, Freedom Day! Juneteenth marks the moment freedom finally reached people who were supposed to already have it. The freedom to read, write, and learn was part of that fight then, and closing that gap is still the work now. We hope you have the opportunity to participate in a Juneteenth celebration near you this weekend and to take a moment to celebrate, reflect, and honor the history that made this day possible.
