Meg is an accomplished teacher, poet, and illustrator who, in addition to teaching writing and humanities at VAL, organizes community poetry readings and facilitates writing circles for women in prison.

As a teacher, Meg supports students, ages 16+, overcoming barriers in accessing their education due to trauma, learning disabilities, poverty, mental health challenges and/or displacement from their homelands due to war or political turmoil.  Fostering a safe, yet aspirational, learning environment with students of varying skill levels requires considerable talent!

“Meg is a very caring teacher who treats each student with respect and kindness while also ensuring accountability,” said Ethan Maurer, Regional Director of the VAL Chittenden County Learning Center. “She pushes them to be successful.”

“Meg is an excellent teacher. She is a very helpful, honest and a talented teacher. She helped me learn writing skills and how to check and correct my essays and research paper.  It was fantastic. I would say she is a very good teacher and I can recommend her class to other students.”-A New American student at VAL

As a community volunteer, Meg co-facilitates WritingInsideVT, offering supportive writing groups at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility.  She also co-hosts poetry readings via Lit Club at the Light Shop in Burlington.  Check out her personal website:  https://www.megreynoldspoetry.com/

Vermont Adult Learning nominated Meg as a 2020 Vermont Business Magazine Rising Star.
