April is for poetry! The Academy of American Poets established April as National Poetry Month in 1996. The purpose is to raise awareness and appreciation for poetry. We are pleased to share a poem by one of our current students.
Taraneh Momtahen, a VAL English Language Learning student working with volunteer Charlene Gates, created a lovely acrostic poem in Gates’ Intermediate/Advanced Class. An acrostic poem is a poem in which certain letters in each line spell out a word or phrase. Enjoy Taraneh’s poem below!
Spring is coming
Please wake up
Raining everywhere
In the streets
Nagging is not acceptable,
Get up please!
