Name: Dee Gilbert
Role outside of VAL: Associate Director for Employer Development in the Center for Careers and Internships at Middlebury College. I foster employer relationships to provide students with high-quality and diverse employment and internship opportunities. I am active in my church and passionate about helping people set and achieve goals.
Where were you born? I was born in Colorado and moved to Northeast Tennessee when I was five. My husband and I moved to his home state of Vermont over 30 years ago.
How do you enjoy spending your free time? We enjoy spending time on the lake with our kids and hiking in the beautiful state. When we are not traveling to warm, sunny places in the winter, you can find me curled up with a good book and a latte.
How long have you been a Board member? I started volunteering with VAL ten years ago as a tutor and have been on the board since 2020.
Why did you choose to join VAL’s Board of Trustees and what do you find most satisfying about serving on our Board? It is a pleasure to be part of an organization dedicated to making lifelong learning opportunities accessible for everyone in a supportive and encouraging environment.
