Monday, September 16 not only kicks off Adult Education and Family Literacy Week this year, it also marks the first-ever National GED Day! National GED Day is a time to reflect on the hard work and dedication of GED learners, educators, graduates, and everyone who supports them throughout their educational journey. It’s a day to celebrate GED achievements and the brighter futures that come through education. The GED test has opened doors to better jobs and college programs for more than 20 million graduates since 1942. Visit ged.com/nationalgedday to learn more.
Alexis, who received her GED through VAL, had this to say:
“VAL was extremely helpful to me and made it possible for me to be able to raise 2 kids successfully on my own because I was able to get my GED!
My teacher, Ginny, was always very flexible and lenient with me and took the time to help me understand even the smallest things. She never belittled me and never made me feel as if having a kid at a young age would jeopardize getting my certificate.
Having a GED has made my job openings not limited. It has also made it so I will be able to homeschool my son still if I decide to choose that route.”
