Name: Ashley Griggs
Role outside of VAL: A full-time dog mom and part-time starting my own small business while working at a bookstore.
Where were you born? Springfield, Vermont! But was raised in Chester. Born, raised, and plan to stay in VT forever.
What is your educational background? I dropped out of high school in 2013, my junior year. Then enrolled at VAL in 2019 and graduated in 2020. I’ve been enrolled at CCV but am taking a break from school for the moment.
What is a unique hobby or interest you have? I love anything artsy! I have my own small business of hand painting glassware and making resin keychains. So any free time I’m in my studio fringing ways to work my creative brain.
How do you enjoy spending your free time? Most of my time is spent with my 3-year-old Aussiedoodle Waffles. And just spending time with friends and family as much as I can!
How long have you been a Board member? I joined the board in 2020 right before I graduated from VAL to lend a voice from a former student who has gone through the program myself.
Why did you choose to join VAL’s Board of Trustees? Val changed my life and I wanted to be a part in making sure other people can have the same opportunities that I did, and maybe help find some to make it even better.
What do you find most satisfying about serving on our Board? I have learned a lot about how foundations and schools work behind the scenes while again being able to make sure the students are always a main focus.
